Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to take part in the meeting “Perspectives  in Gynaecological Oncology and Colposcopy Teaching Session” sponsored by the ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology), that will take place at the hotel “Gorica”, Ohrid, Macedonia, from 28^th till 30^th September, 2007. The organization of this meeting is supported by the Macedonian Society for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (MSCPC), the Human Papillomavirus Society of Macedonia (HPVSM), the Association of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of Macedonia (AGOM), and the University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics – Skopje.

There are several main topics that shall be discussed about gynaecological malignancies (vulva, cervix, uterine corpus, ovarium, and breast) by leading experts from Europe, regional countries, and Macedonia. A special emphasis has been put on cervical cancer screening, HPV vaccines and a short but very interesting session of cases (colpophotograms) shall be led by skilled colposcopists. Two or maybe three satellite symposia have also been planned covering the interests and bringing you the newest facts about HPV infection and vaccines and treatment of breast carcinoma.

We want to remind you that the venue of this meeting is just 4 kilometers away from Ohrid - renowned as one of the oldest cities in the world, its antiquity originating since the time of Sumer and Babylon; and also known as the site of the first Slavic University [and perhaps the oldest University in Europe], the city known in the past as “the city with 365 churches”. The terrace of the hotel overlooks the distant medieval fortress of Tsar Samuil and the magnificently beautiful lake that swishes along the stony shores of the old town.
